The first Cook and Eat event organised in conjunction with Eves Hill Veg Co and the Sustainable Food group of ACE took place in Aylsham Town Hall on Friday 30 June.
A joyous collaboration of people from all ages and backgrounds were involved in all aspects of preparing the meal which was enjoyed by more than 60 people.
The majority of the ingredients were locally sourced and donated by EHVC. Volunteers, lead by Dave Wain, washed, chopped, diced, shredded and prepared a very tasty tomato, spinach and lentil dahl with rice, broad bean hummus and flat breads.
Many of those attending brought a dish of their own – ranging from delicious cakes and crumbles to wonderful cordials made from foraged plants and fabulous herbal infusions made from herbs.
Glorious locally grown flowers decked the tables. Songs were sung and experiences exchanged – it was a true community meal, which will hopefully be the first of many.
