Aylsham Climate Emergency (ACE) group invites you to a screening of the People’s Emergency Briefing (PEB) in Aylsham Town Hall on Saturday 4 July at 6.30pm. The PEB is a new 50-minute documentary film out now and presented by Chris Packham.
The film draws on footage taken at the National Emergency Briefing on the climate & nature crisis which was commissioned to present the latest evidence, and build an irresistible call for the Government to stage a televised emergency briefing, the essential first step towards the WW2-scale response now required.
The climate & nature crisis threatens all aspects of British life from national security to food supply, but solutions exist.
Here in Aylsham we will have the great opportunity to watch the film, welcome how we feel in response and take discerned action together. In taking part in this event you will be joining over 1,000 communities of people across the UK who have also watched the briefing to date.
This emergency affects all of us; the whole spectrum of society, so we will give time, during small group facilitated discussions, to listen and to enable all of your perspectives to be heard – as people from farming communities, the business sector, sports groups, all faiths and no faith, education, retired people, nature lovers, creatives, health sectors workers and more.
Calling to our government is only a part of the follow up. At this event you will be able to find out about the local initiatives that are already happening and to share your ideas and projects with others. We invite responses to the connected crises affecting our natural world; including cost of living and the rising disillusionment, mental health challenges, and social withdrawal among some of our young people.
As an engaged and concerned citizen, I have been listening, over the past eight years, to the needs of many people. During that time a repeated sentiment I have heard, from all ages and all walks of life, are feelings of disempowerment and a lack of trust in elected representatives and mainstream media. As it currently stands, it is highly unlikely that governments are going to initiate a resolution to the climate, nature and connected crises. Therefore, we are inspired to bring together all people to gather a breadth of strength and wisdom as we engage in tackling the problems and finding solutions together.
‘Make sure you see this vital film which tells it straight and hard, including how surprisingly affordable it is to stop the climate crisis in its tracks – a tiny % of GDP.’

The People’s Emergency Briefing isn’t about scaring people – it’s about understanding what’s happening to our world in a clear, honest way, and more importantly, what we can actually do about it. I went along not quite knowing what to expect but came away feeling more informed, more aware and strangely more hopeful. It helped make sense of a lot of the confusion around climate change, nature loss and extreme weather without being overwhelming. It starts conversations we probably need to be having.

Participant at a screening. (Not previously involved in any climate /nature group).
