We believe that every green space in Aylsham is important for wildlife – none more so than our own gardens.
This is the first year of our competition, and we are looking to find the best wildlife friendly gardens for nature in our town. Big or small, your whole garden or just special corners – all qualify.
A successful wildlife garden will have three key features:
Food: eg nectar/pollen rich plants and flowers for insects; berry bearing bushes
Water: eg a pond for frogs/toads; birdbath; hedgehog drinking dishes
Shelter: eg trees and shrubs; ground cover perennial plants; bird-boxes; bug/bee hotel; stick pile
The competition will run each summer starting with entries submitted by the beginning of June, judging in July and prize giving in August.

By far the biggest green space in Aylsham is all our gardens added together; therefore, the biggest winner will be our local wildlife.
